Stope design workflow

You can use the stope designer functions to create a practical mineable solid that you can then slice into levels and stopes in Stope Slicing.

Prerequisites: You must have a block model showing the grade cut off that you wish to mine or a geological solid of the ore body. Planes must exist that cover the ore body.

Workflow:
  1. Start a new stope design project.
  2. For each plane that covers the ore body, starting from the first plane:
    1. Activate the plane and digitise a polygon, that is a mineable shape, around the ore body.
    2. Evaluate the stope polygon that you have digitised.
  3. Create design object to be used in Stope Slicing.
  4. End stope design project

Tips: The following tips can save you time when designing a stope:

  • Drag the Digitise toolbar into Graphics so that it is undocked.
  • With the Digitise toolbar undocked, you do not have to move the pointer far to create new segments and digitise polygons.

  • Display the Underground Design toolbar, which has icons for all the Stope Design tools.
  • If you want to use a cutting plane to hide parts of a block model, run CUTTING PLANE REMOVE rather than DELETE CUTTING PLANES.
  • You must exit Stope Design to run DELETE CUTTING PLANES.
