Fields on the Autoplot Section Information Element Properties form

Format

The Format section of this form contains a table of prefix and suffix fields which are used to set the appearance of the text in the final plot. This formatting information can be set separately for each of the four possible section orientations: northing, easting, elevation and oblique.

When the plot is produced, Surpac determines which kind of section is in use, and adds to the section value (to the specified number of decimal places) the associated prefix and suffix from the form above. Note here that the user must include any space that they require on either side of the section number using these fields.

As an example, you could have the following prefix and suffix values.

  Prefix Suffix
Northing Northing:
Easting   E
Elevation   ELEV
Oblique Oblique dist:

If the user creates a section along northing 7200, the resulting text in the title block would be Northing: 7200.

If the user creates a section at elevation 200 metres, the resulting text in the title block would be 200 ELEV.

Note that in the case of an oblique section, the section value used is the distance from the origin to the section plane.

X position, Y position

The values for the X and Y positions are obtained from the position defined by the mouse selection. These values are relative to the lower left corner of the title block. You may modify these values if they are not suitable.

Pen

The pen number is associated with a colour through a pen file that can be easily modified to suit your requirements.

Priority

Each item, line, text, symbol, etc. that is drawn on a map has a priority that is used to determine how items that clash should be drawn, or omitted. Title blocks should be designed so that there are no clashes between items within the title block. If items are placed outside the title block rectangle, pattern legends for example, it is important that they be given a priority high enough to ensure other map components do not clash them from the map.
