Known issues with fonts in plotting

HOOPS issues

The bold, italic and underline font options will not be displayed in the plot preview window, due to an unavoidable limitation in HOOPS. The use of the bold or italic options will therefore increase the size of the area required to draw the text and perform clashing, but the size and appearance of the font in the preview window will remain the same due to this limitation. This in turn may effect text alignment or positioning on screen, and compound the font sizing issue mentioned below. However, the hardcopy version when printed from Surpac or a DWF viewer will always display these font options as expected.

Font sizing problems

Due to differences in the way HOOPS and the Windows operating system represent the heights of fonts, there may be some subtle differences between the size of fonts in the Surpac plot preview window, and the final plot. This is a result of the need to convert between the two separate methods of calculating font size, and cannot be avoided.

Text in the plot preview window may occasionally appear larger than it should, or may slightly overlap with lines, other text, clashing boundaries or other elements of the plot. While this problem may appear serious, any such issues are limited to the plot preview window, and the finished plot will display the text with intended font size and placement.
