Delete triangles inside a segment

This function allows you to delete all the triangles of a trisolation which lie inside a particular segment. 'Inside' means that all the vertices of a triangle lie on that segment. This function should be used to delete triangles formed using the TRIANGULATE Inside Segment function.

To run this function: Choose Solids > Edit triangle > Delete triangles inside a segment, or...

  • In the Function Chooser, type DELETE INSIDE SEGMENT, and press ENTER.

Select one of the triangles to be deleted

Position the pointer and select one of the triangles you wish to delete (that is, one of the triangles inside the segment).

Results

The triangles inside the segment are deleted and the screen is updated with the new edited trisolation.

The following prompt is redisplayed:

Select one of the triangles to be deleted

The TRIANGLE Delete Inside Segment function will continue until the function is cancelled when the following prompt is displayed:

Select one of the triangles to be deleted

Messages

A progress feedback bar is displayed while the trisolation is searched for triangles to delete.

While the new edited trisolation is being drawn on the screen the following message is displayed:

Redrawing trisolation, please wait...

Warnings

The point selected is not in the working layer and cannot be edited

Only objects which are in the active layer can be edited. You have selected an object which is not in the active layer.

Invalid selection: selected triangle is not INSIDE a segment

For a triangle to be inside a segment, all the triangle's vertices must lie on that segment.
