Fields on the Main tab on the Autoplot Presentation Parameters form

Field Description
Sheet setup
Output file name The name of the output file.
Sheet size

The Sheet ID that defines the printable area of your plot. The dimensions of each Sheet ID are set using the PLOT SHEET SIZES function.

Note: By default, the dimensions of each Sheet size are not the same as the paper size of the same name. For example, Sheet ID A3 has printable area dimensions of X 36.5 cm and Y 25 cm, but paper size A3 has dimensions of X 42 cm and Y 29.7 cm.

To cater for older plotters, the default sheet sizes are set with dimensions less than the paper size so that there is extra white space in some of the margins.

Orientation
  • Landscape: The width of the plot is greater than the height.
  • Portrait: The height of the plot is greater than the width.
Data units
  • Metric: The plot is produced using metric metres.
  • Imperial: The plot is produced using imperial feet.
Scale method
  • Fit to Screen: Plot data will fit in the current viewport.
  • Manual Scale: Plot data will follow a specified scale. This option will enable the Manual scale options.
  • Selection Box: Plot data will use a resizable selection box.
Manual scale options
Lock X/Y scale
  • Selected: Use the same scale for the X and Y axes of the plot (Isotropic).
  • Cleared: Use different scales for the X and Y axes (Anisotropic).
X scale The minimum required X scale which will accommodate all data in the plot. Enter designed X Scale.
Y scale The minimum required Y scale which will accommodate all data in the plot. Enter designed Y Scale.
Lower left corner coordinate
X The X coordinate of the initial position of the Manual Scale selection box, in real world coordinates. Leave blank to display the box in Graphics.
Y The Y coordinate of the initial position of the Manual Scale selection box, in real world coordinates. Leave blank to display the box in Graphics.

Drawing area

The part of the sheet contain the data for plotting. New drawing areas can be created through the Plotting sheet set up window. Drawing areas are restricted or locked to a specific sheet size.

  • DRAW. A standard drawing area 1 mm inside the standard border. The line which surrounds the drawing area is drawn with pen 1.
  • NODA. Defines the same drawing area as DRAW but has no line drawn around it.
  • VA3L. A drawing area which occupies the left third of an A3 map sheet.
  • VA3M. A drawing area which occupies the middle third of an A3 map sheet.
  • VA3R. A drawing area which occupies the right third of an A3 map sheet.
  • VA1L. A drawing area which occupies the left third of an A1 map sheet.
  • VA1M. A drawing area which occupies the middle third of an A1 map sheet.
  • VA1R. A drawing area which occupies the right third of an A1 map sheet.
  • VA0L. A drawing area which occupies the left third of an A0 map sheet.
  • VA0M. A drawing area which occupies the middle third of an A0 map sheet.
  • VA0R. A drawing area which occupies the right third of an A0 map sheet.
Grid The grid to be used on the plot.
  • NOGR: no grid to be plotted.
  • OBAO: oblique section view grid Y='El'\; X='Offset'\; Text height=2.5mm.
  • OBA3: oblique section view grid Y='El'\; X='Offset'\; Text height=1.8mm.
  • YXAO: plan view grid Y='N'\; X='E'\; Text height=2.5mm.
  • YXA3: plan view grid Y='N'\; X='E'\; Text height=1.8mm.
  • ZXAO: east-west section view grid Y='El'\; X='E'\; Text height=2.5mm.
  • ZYA3: north-south section view grid Y='El'\; X='N'\; Text height=1.8mm.
  • ZYAO: north-south section view grid Y='El'\; X='N'\; Text height=2.5mm.
  • ZYA3: north-south section view grid Y='El'\; X='N'\; Text height=1.8mm.
  • 2DGR: the 2D dynamic grid displayed in Graphics is displayed on the plot.
  • 2DGR is available only when a grid is displayed in 2D Planes mode.

When you are plotting data on an oblique grid, select 2DGR, and click Apply. You are prompted to choose which grids to plot. You can plot both grids if you want.

    • The Window grid - the grid that indicates the lines where the Northing and Easting planes cross the current plane.
    • The Oblique grid - the grid that is on the oblique plane.
Border

The border style for your plot. If you do not want a border, leave this field blank.

You can change the borders and add new borders by using the Plot Borders function from the Plotting menu. A border is defined relative to the edges of the selected sheet size thus permitting the same border to be used for any sheet size. The maximum border area is the sheet size, but may be some fixed distance in from each edge, for example, 1 cm all around the sheet.

Note: Title blocks are associated with borders. So if you choose to not have a border it will not be possible to have a title block on the map. However, it is possible to have a border definition that has no lines and still have a title block drawn on the map. The border definition NOBO is supplied specifically for this purpose.

Title block The title block to be used on the plot. You can leave this field blank if no title block is required. Title blocks can be created and modified through the Plotting sheet set up window.
Plot data content
Vector data, no surfaces The data will be processed as points, lines and polygons.
Raster data, render surfaces The data will be processed as a single raster image.
Raster resolution (DPI) The resolution of the generated image in dots-per-inch (DPI).

Note: If more than one plane is selected, Surpac creates the plots as .dwf files, but does not display them in plot preview.

Additional sections

This field is displayed only when no plane is active. Enter the number of sections additionally plotted from the current section.

Note: Use the Additional section option, when you want to create sections and you are not using planes. If you are using planes, and want to create sections, use the Select all option and the list of planes beneath it.
