2D planes mode
This function toggles between 2D PLANES MODE and 3D PLANES MODE. The default mode is 3D PLANES MODE.
To run this function: Choose Planes > 2D planes mode, or...
- In the Function Chooser, type 2D PLANES MODE, and press ENTER.
- In the Function Chooser, type 3D PLANES MODE, and press ENTER.
You can use 2D PLANES MODE, toggled on, to set the view in the current viewport to either:
- the XY plane, if no planes are active
- the active plane
Usually, you would use 2D MODE to lock the view to the active plane while you digitise on the active plane.
You use 3D PLANES MODE to rotate and view the data in 3D space.
Note: You can check which mode is active by looking at the Status bar.
Output
When 2D planes mode is selected, the viewport is locked to the active plane, or to the XY plane, if no planes are active.
When 2D mode is not selected, and 3D PLANES MODE is active, the viewport allows 3D viewing of the data.
