Load slope strings

You use this function to load a slope string file into the 'slope strings layer' in Graphics. Various Pit design expansion functions use the slope strings in this layer to obtain the slope angles.

To run this function: Choose Design > Pit design > Load slope strings, or...

  • In the Function Chooser, type LOAD SLOPE STRINGS, and press ENTER.

Note: The slope strings layer is only required if you have run the Select slope and berm width method function, and set the method to slope strings. If you have not set the method and you run the LOAD SLOPE STRINGS function the slope and berm width method is automatically set to use slope strings.

A valid slope string must contain:

  • only closed segments
  • only clockwise segments
  • a D1 field with values for the slope angle in decimal degrees
  • a D2 field with values for the berm width

Note: When you use Pit design functions for expanding segments, if a point is not inside any of the slope strings then the design gradient and Constant berm width values are used.

You can use this function as often as required to load new slope strings as a pit design progresses.

Fields on the Load slope strings form

Field Description
Layer Display only. The name of the layer the slope strings are loaded into.
Location The full path (from the working directory) of the string file to load into the slope strings layer.
Display Strings
  • Selected: The slope strings are displayed in Graphics.
  • Cleared: The slope strings are not displayed in Graphics.

Output

The specified string file is loaded into the slope strings layer in Graphics. The expand functions on the Pit design menu will use the strings in the slope strings layer to determine the slope angles and berm widths where appropriate.
