Next section

You can use this function to move forward through the viewing planes defined by the SLICING PLANES, LIMIT VIEW, or VIEWING PLANES functions. When you move forward, you advance by an amount equal to the viewing planes width. This function produces a result only if you have already defined the plane orientation using the SLICING PLANES, LIMIT VIEW, or VIEWING PLANES functions, or the Planes Panel.

With this feature you can easily inspect thin parallel slices, or sections, through a number of different data sources with minimal effort, for example, string files, DTMs, 3DMs, block models, and geological database sections.

To run this function: Choose View > Viewing planes > Next plane, or Database > Sections > Next, or Design > Blast design > Sections > Next, or...

  • In the Function Chooser, type VIEWING PLANES FORWARD, and press ENTER.

Output

The viewing planes are advanced through the data in the positive X, Y, or Z direction for an orthogonal pair of viewing planes, or away from the camera for an oblique pair of viewing planes. The planes that are displayed are temporary.
