Edit drillhole
This function allows graphical display and editing of interval and point data on a single dialog.
To run this function: Choose Database > Display > Edit drillhole, or...
Choose Edit drillhole to display the prompt:
Select the hole of interest
Graphically selecting the hole to be edited will display the View / Edit Drillhole form for the specified hole:
The View / Edit Drillhole form has two tabs, titled Graphical Editor and Pending Edits.
Graphical Editor
This tab graphically displays interval or point data for a range of database tables and fields using three areas. To the left is a scrolling region in which the data is graphically displayed. Each column displays data from a specific database table and field. In the centre is an area in which values for a selected interval can be edited. To the right is a legend describing the codes or ranges of numeric values which match the various colours and patterns used for the currently selected column. To change the selected column, click the title or column of interest. The title of the currently selected column is presented in bold.
Table & Field
To add a new column to the graphical display area, select the database table and field of interest and press the Add Button. To modify the database table and field referred to by the currently selected column, select the database table and field of interest and press the Modify Button. To remove a column, right click on the title of the column to display a shortcut menu:
Select Remove to remove the selected column.
The other items on this menu determine the method of displaying the data in the column:
- Chart, draws a line chart of the selected data. For interval tables, uses the average of depth_from and depth_to to plot each point, as shown in the sample / gold column above.
- Bar chart, draws a colour filled bar chart.
- Colour coded, draws a colour or pattern filled region for each interval, as shown in the Geology column above.
Tool tips display the full title of columns that have been resized to only show part of a title:
Tool tips are also used to display the text value of the field value used in each interval of a column:
To view all data for an interval in one of the columns, click on the interval with the left mouse button. The field values for the selected interval will be displayed on the centre panel of the form. Editing carried out on these fields will be reflected in the graphical display. Each edit is recorded on the Pending Edits tab until the form is applied or cancelled, when you will be given a chance to either discard the changes or save them to the database.
Pending Edits
Each table displayed on the Graphical Editor tab has a table on the Pending Edits tab:
The rows of this table show the edits that have been made to intervals of the table. Edited values are shown in bold with the original value displayed in parentheses. To remove a row, right click on the number of the row to be removed to display a menu:
Selecting Remove removes the row from the table and undoes the edits.
The Print graphical log button invokes the Graphical Drillhole Log form to allow creation of a graphical log for the current hole. The colours and patterns used for the bar charts and colour coded columns on the resultant log will be those that have been specified for the corresponding database fields using the Edit Drillhole Styles function.
When you press the Apply button or Cancel button, if you have made changes to the data, the Save Edits dialog will be displayed:
Select Yes to save the changes to the database, No to discard all the changes, or Cancel to return to the View / Edit Drillhole form to review the changes.
