Profiles
Profiles determine a number of things about your Surpac display. They:
- determine which menu bars and toolbars are displayed as well as the size, shape, and position of them
- contain user-created menus (which allow you to create your own buttons to perform actions)
- define the windows layout (position of the splits for the Navigator and the Message window)
There are several different profiles to choose from. Each profile displays a different combination of menu bars and toolbars. You can display and hide menu bars and toolbars from any profile, and then save it as a new profile, or as an existing profile. Customised menu bars and toolbars are also saved to the profile.
Creating a new profile
To create a new profile, choose File > Save > Profile , and enter a new name. This new profile name is then available from the list of profiles when Surpac starts.
Starting Surpac with a specific profile
You can make Surpac start automatically with a specific profile by adding: <space>-profile<space><ProfileName> to the Target field in the properties of the desktop shortcut.
For example, if you want Surpac to always start with the survey profile, you might set Target to:"C:\Program Files\GEOVIA\Surpac\66\nt_i386\bin\surpac2.exe"
-profile survey
Note that there is a space before -profile and a space before the specific profile name. Although you can create and save profile names with spaces in them, it is not recommended. You cannot automatically start Surpac using a profile name that has a space in it.
Default profile
You can set a Default profile, which is used every time you start up the software. When you right-click on any blank space in the menu and toolbar area, a menu is displayed, listing the available profiles.
You can change profiles by selecting one of the other profiles. If you want to set the current profile as the default profile, select Set current as default.
When you select No Profile, you use the system default profile that is recommended for all new users of Surpac. You can set this profile as the default if you want.
Tip: If you are going to make several changes to your profile throughout a Surpac session, instead of using the save profile function, use Auto save window layout.
