Inputting Chinese Characters
The following will help you in the steps to inputting Chinese characters in Windows 2000.
- Click on the "Start" button
- Select "Control Panel" under the "Settings" menu
- Click on the "Regional Options" icon
- Select the "General" tab and choose "Simplified Chinese" under Language settings for the system
- Reboot computer
- Go back to the "Region Options" window, select the "General" tab again and change "your local (location)" to "Chinese (PRC)"
- Now select the "Input Locals" tab go to the installed input locals window and click on add
- Choose "Chinese (PRC)" for "input local" and "Chinese (PRC) - QuanPin" for "Keyboard Layout/IME"
- Click on the apply button on the bottom right to save the options
- Load up the message editor
- Use left alt and shift to switch to Chinese once the "Current Translations" window is editable
