Import from AutoCAD or Microstation
You use this function to open an AutoCAD (.dxf/.dwg) or Microstation (.dgn) file and import chosen layers into Surpac graphics layers. Layers in a CAD file are used to group the information in a drawing by function, and to control line-type, colour, and other settings.

| File | The name and location of the AutoCAD or Microstation file to import. |
| Scan file | Scans the selected file for layer names. If you click this button the names of the layers appear in the table on the Layers tab. |

| Merge layer name |
If you select a layer and clear the Import layer name cell, the data is saved to a layer with this default layer name. If you select multiple layers, all of which have empty Import layer name cells, the data from all of these layers is merged into a single layer with the Merge layer name.

| Import layer name | The name for the CAD layer when it is imported into Surpac. You can select an existing name or enter a new layer name. |
