Licensing Surpac

You can operate Surpac using no licence, a single user licence, or a network licence. You can also review the current licensing information.

No licence

You can use unlicensed copies of Surpac to display data.

  1. Start Surpac.
  2. The Select licence form is displayed.

  3. Select Unlicenced, and click Apply.

Local licence

To license Surpac using a token number and a dongle:

  1. Ensure that your dongle is inserted into an appropriate port on your computer.
  2. Start Surpac.
  3. The Select licence form is displayed.

  4. Select Local, and click Apply.
  5. A Local licence settings section is displayed in the Select licence form.

  6. If you have a licence (.licn) file for your dongle:
    1. Select Use licence file.
    2. In the Import file field, browse to the .licn file that GEOVIA provided to you.
    3. Select your dongle in the Dongle drop-down list.
    4. The Licenced modules list shows a green check mark beside each module you can use.

  7. If you do not have a licence (.licn) file for your dongle:
    1. Select Get a new licence.
    2. Select your dongle in the Dongle drop-down list.
    3. Select Support website.
    4. Click Get new licence.
    5. The GEOVIA Support website opens.

    6. Sign in to GEOVIA Support.
    7. Click Download and save the licence file to c:\users\public\geovia\surpac\<version>\share\etc
    8. In the Select licence form, select Use licence file.
    9. In the Import file box, browse to the licence file.
  8. Click Apply.
  9. The Licenced modules list shows a green check mark beside each module you can use. If no modules are licensed, contact your local support office.

    Note: You do not need the Hub check box selected to use Hub. The Hub check box is not used in Surpac. It is displayed only because it is part of a shared software component that Surpac uses.

  10. Click Apply.

Network licence

  1. Select Network.
  2. In the Server address box, type the computer name, or IPv4 address, of the computer that is running Licence Manager.
  3. An example of an IPv4 address is 127.0.0.1, which is also the address of the local computer.

  4. Click Connect.
  5. Click Apply.

Review licence

To review licence information, or change licence type:

  1. Choose File > Licencing > Change /Inspect licence.
  2. After reviewing or updating the licence, click Apply.
