How to do data preparation
The suggested steps you should take in preparing data for Solids Modelling are:
1. View the data in Graphics. Check for:
- Foldbacks
- Unnecessarily large numbers of points
- Duplicate points
2. Edit the data, using the Clean tools or Filter Strings as necessary.
3. Check the directions of the strings. Make sure that the strings for any trisolation are going in the same direction. You should make use of some or all of the following functions:
- String File Summary
- String Directions
- viewing in Graphics (to check and change directions of strings)
4. Make sure that the data is in plan projection and in the same coordinate system. You may need to use the following functions to achieve this:
- 2D Transformation
- String Maths
You are now ready to begin the process of creating a Solid model.
