Export to DXF

Plot files produced by the PLOTTING module have a file name extension of .pf. These files may be converted to .dxf format using this function. The different pen numbers specified for parts of the original plot are retained through the conversion.

To run this function: Choose File > Export > Plot file to DXF, or, in the Plotting window, choose File > Export plot file to DXF, or...

  • In the Function Chooser, type PF TO DXF, and press ENTER.

Define the .PF file to convert

File name

The Filename entered here must be a file in the format of a .pf file produced by the PLOTTING module. The filename extension must be entered for this to work. The only other file in appropriate format for conversion by this option are .cf, or clash files, also produced by the PLOTTING module. To convert the .cf file to .dxf, you must specify the .cf extension.

Layer ID

You must specify a Layer Name which will be applied to the whole file. The name may be any alphanumeric character string. The default name is always '0'.

Result

This function may create a number of DXF files. Ordinarily only one DXF file is created. The name of this file will be identical to that of the file being converted with the exception of the file extension being "DXF". If the plot file being converted is a multi-page plot file created by the graphical drill hole log function then there will be one file created for each plot page in the plot file.

When converting a multi-page plot file the first DXF file will have the same name as plot file although with an extension of "DXF". Additional files will be named by appending a number, starting at 1 and incrementing for each page thereafter, to the file name after which is appended the "DXF" extension.
