Open section files of stopes and openings
This function recalls outlines representing stopes and surveyed openings into Ring Design.
To run this function: Choose Design > Ring design > Ring design > Open section files of stopes and openings, or...
Define the Range of Sections
Enter a valid range representing the range of string file ids of the sections to be loaded into Ring Design. If you only wish to load a single section, enter the id of the file in this field.
It is permissible to have some files missing from the ID range. If this is the case, a warning message will be displayed to advise you of those files which are missing. Ring Design will only be possible for those files which exist. At least one Survey Openings file must be present in the defined range of files for Ring Design to proceed.
Location for Survey Openings
Enter the location of the string files which contain the surveyed opening (drive) outlines.
String Range for Survey Openings
Enter a valid range representing the range of strings in the files which represent surveyed openings.
Location for Stope Outlines
Enter the location of the string files which contain the stope outlines. This may be the same name as used for surveyed openings if different string ranges in the same file represent stopes or surveyed openings.
String Range for Stope Outlines
Enter a valid range representing the range of strings in the files which represent stopes.
View direction
Select the direction to view the ring plane in, as described in the table below.
|
Orientation |
Default View Direction (North / East / Above) |
Alternative View Direction (South / West / Below) |
| Dumped | From above | From below |
| Approximately E-W | Towards the North | Towards the South |
| Approximately N-S | Towards the East | Towards the West |
Choose Apply to load the first surveyed opening and stope outline string files into Ring Design.
The filenames are constructed from the locations specified for each outline type and the range of sections specified.
Information about the currently loaded ring is displayed in the dialog region at the bottom of the screen.
Messages
File filename.str not found
Either the specified stope file or surveyed outline file could not be found. The current directory may be wrong or the file may not exist.
Data extent is too small for plane calculations
The surveyed openings (drive) data is used to calculate the ring plane parameters. This message implies that the specified range of strings in the specified surveyed openings file contains data which is insufficiently spaced to calculate plane information.
The specified string range contains less than three points
The surveyed openings (drive) data is used to calculate the ring plane parameters. This message implies that the specified range of strings in the specified surveyed openings file contains fewer than three points and so cannot be used to calculate plane information.
The strings in the range specified for stope outlines are not coplanar
The points in the stope outline strings must all lie on a plane if they are to be used in Ring Design
