Charge all holes

You can use this function to set all the displayed string blast holes to be charged with a specific explosive, booster, and detonator, as part of the blast design process.

Prerequisites: At least one blast hole is displayed, as a string rather than from a blast database.

To run this function: Choose Design > Blast design > Charge > All holes, or...

  • In the Function Chooser, type BLAST CHARGE ALL HOLES, and press ENTER.
Fields on the Enter charging details form

Field Description
[charging table] This table shows one row for each charging interval. For example, one row for stemming from a depth of 0 to 1.5, and a second row for explosive from 1.5 to 10.
Depth from The starting depth of the charging interval. This field is read-only.
Depth to The finishing depth of the charging interval.
Explosive

The type of explosive with which to fill the charging interval, for example stemming or ANFO 0.8

Note: You define the types of explosive in Drill and blast settings.

Detonator The type of detonator to use in the charging interval.
No. of detonators The number of detonators to use in the charging interval.
Detonator position Whether to place the detonator at the top, in the middle, or at the bottom of the charging interval.
Booster The type of booster to use in the charging interval.
Number of booster cartridges The number of cartridges of booster to use.
Delay The delay for the detonator. If the detonator is defined only once in Drill and blast settings (and therefore it has only a single delay), there is only one delay you can select.
End hole method
adjust charge to hole depth

When the final charging interval, that you have set, extends beyond the hole depth, the Depth to of the final charging interval is reduced to the depth of the hole.

For every blast hole that has a hole depth less than the Depth to value of the final charging interval, Depth to is reduced to the depth of the hole.

Note: When the final charging interval is less than the hole depth, the subdrill is filled with stemming.

adjust charge on tolerance

The Depth to of the final charging interval is reduced only when the Depth to value of the charging interval minus Distance is less than the length of the hole.

Distance The tolerance value for determining whether the depth of the final charging interval is reduced to the end of the hole.
Minimum charge length During charging, if any charging interval of the hole has a length less than this segment, that charging interval is converted to stemming.

Output

The charging details for each hole are stored in the properties of the points in each blast hole.

Tip: To save the charging details permanently, you can upload the blast holes to the blast database.

A charge holes report is displayed that shows whether any additional stemming was added to the end of any blast holes, and whether the charge depth was adjusted for any holes. The Charged property of each point in each blast hole string is set to True.

Note: When you display blast holes from a blast database, you can use EDIT BLAST HOLE to see a diagram showing how the hole you select is charged.
