Pre-split holes along a line

You can use this command to create blastholes along the straight line that you create by dragging in Graphics.

Prerequisites: Graphics must be set as plan view mode.

To run this function: Design > Blast Design > Blast Design > Pre-split holes along line, or...

  • In the Function Chooser, type BLAST PRESPLIT LINE, and press ENTER.
Fields on the Pre-split parameters form
Field Description
Presplit line
Origin X The X position of the origin of the line.
Origin Y The Y position of the origin of the line.
Line Length The line length.
Bearing The line bearing.
Hole spacing
Spacing method

The method for selecting the hole spacing. Options are:

  • Spacing: This option allows you to enter the spacing between blastholes.
  • No. holes: This option allows you to enter the number of holes along the selected segment.
Collar elevation
Elevation method The method for determining collar elevation. Options are: Fixed, DTM layer, DTM file.
Elevation The elevation of all drillholes.
Toe elevation
Toe position method The method for determine toe elevation. Options are: Set Length, Set Elevation, DTM layer, DTM file, Set to Segment.
Hole length The length of all holes. Only visible when Set Length is selected.
Subdrill distance The extra drilling length to add to each hole.
Hole settings
Bearing

Options are:

  • Set bearing: Uses the bearing for all holes.
  • Perp. to segment: Uses the bearing perpendicular to the selected segment.
Hole bearing The direction/azimuth angle of holes, measured clockwise from North.
Hole dip The inclination of the hole from the horizontal. Dip is measured as a negative angle when drilling "down" holes and a positive angle when drilling “up” holes.
Hole diameter The diameter of the holes.

Labelling options

Hole ID prefix The hole prefix string. This is added to the hole ID before incrementing the numerical part.
Hole ID suffix The hole suffix string. This is added to the hole ID after incrementing the numerical part.
Starting value

The starting number for the incremental part of the hole ID.

Pad hole_id

Selected: Pads the numerical portion of the hole ID to a specific length.

Cleared: Does not pad the numerical portion of the hole ID.

Pad length The length with which to pad the hole ID.
Pad character The character with which to pad the hole ID
Blast settings
Clip to boundary

Selected: Clips the hole generation to an existing boundary.

Cleared: Does not clip the hole generation.

Rock name

The rock name being drilled for this pre-split pattern. You use the Drill and Blast command to add or delete options from this list.

You can leave this field blank. It is not required for designing the pre-split drillholes. However, other drill and blast commands require this information in order to generate a complete blast report.

Pattern identifier The pattern identifier for the holes.
Drill rig The drill rig name.
Output

Pre-split holes are drawn in Graphics as per the parameters specified in the form of one string segment per hole.
