Begin contouring
This function allows you to enter a Grid Model defaults file. The Grid Model defaults file contains default values of the parameters that define a particular grid, ie grid origin coordinates, x and y grid extents, x and y grid step sizes, and the angle of grid orientation.
To run this function: Choose Surfaces > Contouring > Begin contouring, or...
You will find that you can build up a library of your most commonly used grids by storing several different defaults files.
The function SAVE GRID DEFAULTS, which can be found on the GRID menu, allows you to save a new set of parameters to a new Grid Model defaults file.
If the defaults file cannot be found, a warning is displayed and the data grid will be initialised with internally stored values.
Note:The defaults filename must be entered with the extension .ssi
Note:The Grid Model implementation is based on the graphical display of input data and output results. It is therefore highly recommended that you recall the string file that contains the data you wish to use in the interpolations into the current graphics layer as a preliminary step for the calculations. You may do this by using the RECALL FILE function present in either the GRAPHICS menu or the CREATE GRID menu.
Grid defaults file
Enter the location for the grid defaults file. You must include the extension .ssi in the field.
Processing
The grid defaults file is read in, validity checks are made, and the grid parameters are initialised.
Messages
The grid creation parameters have been initialised
This means that the grid default parameters have been successfuly set.
Result
Once the grid parameters have been successfully set the CREATE GRID menu is displayed. This completes the function.
Warnings
File *** not found
followed by
The grid creation parameters have been initialised
This means that the entered Grid Model defaults file could not be found. In this case the grid creation parameters are initialised to internally stored values and the CREATE GRID menu is displayed.
Error loading grid parameter defaults file ***
or
An error occurred while attempting to load file *** at line nnn
Either of these warnings means that a syntax error has been found while trying to load the defaults file. Check that the file you are attempting to load really is a valid Grid Model defaults file. When these warnings occur the function cancels and you are returned to the GRAPHICS menu.
