View by camera and target

This function allows you to define the camera point and the target point by entering explicit coordinates. This is quite useful if you wish to gain an appreciation of what the data will look like from a particular position. It is also possible to graphically digitise or select the camera and target positions using the mouse.

To run this function: Choose View > Data view options > View by camera & target, or...

  • In the Function Chooser, type VIEW BY COORDS, and press ENTER.
Fields on the Specify View by Co-ordinates form.

Define the camera position Y, X and Z

Enter the Y, X and Z coordinates to define the camera position. The Digitise button may be pressed to use the left or right mouse button to define the camera location with a digitise or select action respectively.

Define the target position Y, X and Z

Enter the Y, X and Z coordinates to define the target position.

The view will be altered to appear as if your eye is at the camera position and you are looking toward the target position. The Digitise button may be pressed to use the left or right mouse button to define the target location with a digitise or select action respectively.
