Viewer Setup

Function Name:

  • VIEWER SETUP

This function allows you to modify some parameters used by the Viewer function. Any changes made to the Viewer parameters are only retained until you exit the system. To make these changes permanent you will need to make the appropriate changes in the SSI_ETC: defaults.ssi file.

Fields on the VIEWER SETUP form.

Axes Length, Colour, Text Font, and Text Colour

These parameters define how axes are presented when they are displayed.

The axes length parameter determines the basic length of the axis arms (before applying any scale factors) with 1.0 indicating arms with lengths about half the screen height.

The axes colour determines the colour of the arms while the text colour and font determine how the text X, Y, and Z labels are rendered.

Angle Base and Multiplier

To enable precision selection of rotation speeds the angular speeds are interpreted using an exponential function of the mouse displacement. These quantities select the base and the exponent multiplier for use in this mapping function. The default quantities should be suitable for most applications.

Mouse Left and Right Button Status:

The low level hardware reports the status of the mouse buttons as they are pressed and encodes the values as an integer. These fields allow you to modify the values which represent the left and right mouse buttons and any other value is taken to mean the middle button. This means that on a two button mouse the middle button can be simulated by holding both mouse buttons down together. This would not normally be changed unless you are using some unusual hardware which does not report the normal status values. In order to determine the status values reported by the mouse use the Viewer Test function.

Animation Period:

When using the animated modes this parameter determines the minimum time between frames. If frame updates take longer they will complete before a new frame is generated.

The scrolling regions in the form are only presented to display the keyboard and mode mappings which the viewer understands. It is not possible to change the keyboard or mode mappings.

Complete the Viewer Setup form and choose Apply to change the Viewer parameters.
