New Layer
This function allows you to create a new empty layer with a specified name. The new layer automatically becomes the active layer.
To run this function: Choose File > New layer, or Edit > Layer > New, or Create > New layer, or...
Define the layer to be selected
Enter the Name of the layer which is to be created as the active layer.
The specified layer name is created and it is now the active layer.
Layer "name" already exists. Can't create it again.
The layer name which you entered already exists.
Use the list layers function to get a list of layer names so that you can use a name which doesn't already exist.
