Break by dragging line

You can use this function to break a line in a segment. The line is broken from the location you select on the line to the next point in the direction that you drag the cursor. A new point is created at the location you selected to break the line.

To run this function: Choose Edit > Segment > Break by dragging line , or...

  • In the Function Chooser, type LINE BREAK, and press ENTER.

Note: By default using LINE BREAK sets snap mode to Plane. If you set snap mode to Point after selecting this function, and you select:

  • near a point in Graphics, but not on the segment line, the line is broken between the two existing points. The additional point is not created.
  • a location that is directly on the segment line in Graphics, LINE BREAK behaves the same as it would if you had snap mode set to Plane.

Output

The line is broken, and a new point is created at the location you selected on the line. The segments of the string are renumbered so that the broken sections are now separate segments, with individual segment numbers.
