Layer delete

This function allows you to delete a specified layer and all data in that layer from memory. If the data in the layer has been modified you are warned and have the opportunity to cancel the function or to continue with the deletion.

To run this function: Choose Edit > Layer > Close , or...

  • In the Function Chooser, type DELETE LAYER, and press ENTER.

Define the layer to be deleted

Enter the Name of the layer which is to be deleted. You can use the browser to select a layer name. The list of names in this browser are the only layers which can be deleted. The layers not listed are the active layer in one of the viewports and so cannot be deleted.

If the data in the layer has been modified the CONFIRM FURTHER PROCESSING form is displayed for you to provide confirmation before continuing.

Choose Apply to continue and delete the layer. Choose Cancel to close the CONFIRM FURTHER PROCESSING form without deleting the layer.

All data in the named layer is deleted from memory and all aspects of that data which may have been present on the screen are also removed.

WARNING

Cannot delete the active layer(s)

The layers left are all active layers in at least one viewport. To be able to delete a layer it must not be active in any viewport.

Delete All Layers

This function will delete all layers removing all data and layer settings. A new main graphics layer with default values is created. This new layer will be active in all viewports.

To run this function: Choose Edit > Layer > Close all , or...

  • In the Function Chooser, type DELETE ALL LAYERS, and press ENTER.

If the data in any layer has been modified the CONFIRM FURTHER PROCESSING form is displayed for you to provide confirmation before continuing.

Choose Apply to continue and delete all of the layers. Choose Cancel to close the CONFIRM FURTHER PROCESSING form without deleting any of the layers.
