Point copy descriptions

You can use this function to copy point descriptions from a source point to a destination point, segment or string, or to multiple points, segments and strings in Graphics.

To run this function: Choose Edit > Point > Copy descriptions, or...

• In the Function Chooser, type POINT COPY DESCRIPTIONS, and press ENTER.

The function will continue until you press ESC.

Fields on the Copy descriptions form

Field	Description
Copy descriptions to	point : Copies the description values from the selected source point to a selected destination point. After you have selected the point the description is copied from, you will be prompted to select the destination point to assign the description. segment : Copies the description values from the selected source point to all points of the selected destination segment. After you have selected the point the description is copied from, you will be prompted to select the destination segment to assign the description. string : Copies the description values from the selected source point to all points of all segments of the selected destination string. After you have selected the point the description is copied from, you will be prompted to select the destination string to assign the description. string and segment range: Copies the description values from the selected source point to all points of the destination segment range of the destination string range. Unlike the previous options you will not be prompted to select strings and segments in Graphics after selecting the point to copy the description from. Instead, you must define the strings and segments you want the descriptions assigned to using the String range and Segment range fields on this form.
String range	The range of strings to assign the copied point description.
Segment range	The range of segments to assign the copied point description.

Output

The description values from the selected source point is copied to the selected destination point(s), segment(s) or string(s).

Troubleshooting

The point selected is not in the working layer and cannot be edited

Only points which are in the active layer can be selected as the destination point or segment or string to copy descriptions. The point you have selected is not in the active layer. You will need to select a point that is in the active layer.
