Copy, rotate, and transform functions

The copy, rotate, and transform functions allow you to create new strings and segments by copying existing strings and segments and then moving them to a new location by either a simple move or by a more complex transformation or rotation.

You can use this function to copy all segments of a string to a new position by defining a displacement.

To run this function: Choose Edit > String > Copy.

Function Name :

  • STRING COPY
Select and drag the string to be copied

Position the pointer and select a point on the string which is to be copied. Graphic feedback is provided to show the position of the string as it is being copied.

Release the mouse button to display the COPY A STRING form.

From Layer

The name of the layer containing the selected string is displayed here for information. This cannot be changed.

String

The string number that was selected is displayed here for information. This cannot be changed.

To Layer

Strings are always copied into the active layer even if the string selected is in a different layer. The name of the active layer is displayed here for information. This cannot be changed.

String

Enter the string number for new string that will be created in the active layer. Choose Apply to complete the copy of the selected string into the active layer with the new string number.

The STRING Copy function will continue until you choose Cancel.
