View by bearing and dip

This function allows you to alter the view by altering the camera position (the point where your eye is positioned) by specifying a bearing and dip from the camera position towards the camera target (generally the centre of gravity of the data).

To run this function: Choose View > Data view options > View by bearing & dip, or...

  • In the Function Chooser, type VIEW BY BEARING, and press ENTER.

Bearing

Enter the bearing from the camera position towards the camera target. Valid bearings are decimal angles in the range of 0 to 360 degrees.

Dip

Enter the dip from the camera position towards the camera target. Valid values for the dip are decimal angles in the range -90 to 90.

For example,

-90, means you are looking down on your data from above

0, means your line of sight is horizontal

+90, means you are looking up on your data from below.

The current bearing and dip values from the camera position to the camera target are displayed as default values.

After you choose Apply the view will be altered according to the parameters which you have entered. The view may be reset to the original orientation using Reset View.
