2D Grid

This function draws an annotated grid over the image on the screen. The interval for the grid is defined. The grid will only be drawn if the data are in the plan view, section view or long section view. The grid is only a temporary feature and it will be erased when some functions which cause the view to alter are executed. Functions such as Orbit Left, Orbit Right will cause the grid to be erased.

To run this function: Choose Display > 2D grid, or...

• In the Function Chooser, type 2D GRID, and press ENTER.

Window In and Window Out will cause the grid to stay on the screen, and it will be automatically resized to fit the new view. There should always be somewhere between 5 and 10 grid lines on the screen when using the default intervals, or Window In and Window Out.

Grid line interval

Enter the interval required for the 2D grid. The value must be positive.

Label Frequency

Enter the required label frequency. The default value of 1 means that every grid line will be labeled.

Data Extents

• Maximum : The maximum value of the data set for the plane on which the grid is drawn.
• Minimum : The minimum values of the data set for the plane on which the grid is drawn.

Grid Position

Grid Position display the options to choose from.

• In Front : On the XY plane the 2DGrid will be displayed above the data set. On the XZ/YZ planes the grid will be displayed in front of the data set.
• Midpoint : This option display's the 2DGrid exactly at the midpoint of the data set.
• Behind : On the XY plane the 2DGrid will be displayed below the data set. On the XZ/YZ planes the grid will be displayed behind the data set.
• Position : This option allows you to specify the display position of the 2DGrid any where within the maximum and minimum of the data set. When you choose this option, the Enter the Value field accepts the arbitrary grid plane value on which the grid is to be drawn.

Enter the Value

Enter the value field accepts the arbitrary grid plane value with in the maximum and minimum of the data set. This field is active only if the Position option from the Grid Position is chosen.

Result

The grid is drawn on the screen with labels on each of the grid lines.

Errors

Can't draw a 2D grid in this view

You have attempted to draw a 2D grid in a view which is not in either plan, cross-sectional or long sectional view. This is not permitted.
