Kriging Weights

Overview

You can use this function to display a plot of kriging weights vs distance for points located at the distance axis intervals, given the block parameters supplied and the current variogram model.

The maximum distance to search for informing samples is not necessarily the range of the variogram model, rather it should be determined by the kriging weights. Searching should only extend to the distance where the kriging weights tend to zero.

Procedure

Choose Display > Kriging weights.

You will see the

Kriging Weights form.

Form Feature	Description
Direction	Specify the Azimuth and Plunge of the direction for which you wish to calculate kriging weights.
Block Dimensions	Enter the X, Y, and Z dimensions of a block. Note: This is typically the size of the blocks to be kriged in your model.
Kriging Type	Select whether you want to apply Ordinary or Simple kriging weights.

Fill in the fields on the Kriging Weights form.
Click Apply

Note: You need to specify whether you will be performing Simple kriging or Ordinary kriging since the weights will be different for these methods (Simple Kriging does not require that the weights sum to 1.0).
