Isotropy

Isotropy is the quality of having the same value when measured in different directions. The classic example of an isotropic shape is a sphere.

In estimation, isotropy refers to the shape of the search ellipsoid. It is equidistant in the X, Y, and Z directions. This means that the distribution of the samples used in the estimation is weighted equally in all directions.
