Select zone from and to zones form

This form appears when you are using one of the compositing functions and you choose the Zone from to option. In this form, you nominate a portion of the drill hole by entering codes to define the top and bottom of the drill hole. This can define the entire hole if you want.

Fields on the Select zone from and to zones form

Field Description
Table Name The name of the table that contains the geology codes which describe the zone of interest.
Field Name The field name from the geology table that contains the data about the zone of interest.
Enter the details for the start of the interval
Zone code

The zone code against which the values from the database are compared. This code defines the top of the geological zone of interest. Wildcard specifications are permitted using the '*' and '?' characters. You can enter multiple codes as 'A, B, C' to obtain either 'A', 'B' or 'C' codes. The first sample in a drill hole that matches a code in the specification is taken as the geological zone at the top of the zone of interest.

The special value `COLLAR' indicates that the start of the hole is to be used as the top of the zone.

Start at

Start at determines whether to use the depth_from or the depth_to of the specified zone as the top of the new interval which is being defined.

  • top of zone. Use the depth_from of the specified zone as the start of the new interval.
  • bottom of zone. Use the depth_to of the specified zone as the start of the new interval.
For missing zone use

This option determines how depth_from is determined if the geological code for the start of the interval is missing in a drill hole.

  • start of hole. depth_from for the interval is the start of the drill hole.
  • bottom zone. depth_from is the top of the bottom zone. Note that if you are using the top of the bottom zone as the depth_to, the absence of the top zone causes an interval of zero thickness.
Enter the details for the end of the interval
Zone code

The zone code against which the values from the database are compared. This code defines the bottom of the geological zone of interest. Wildcard specifications are permitted using the '*' and '?' characters. You can enter multiple codes as 'A, B, C' to obtain either 'A', 'B' or 'C' codes. The last sample in a drill hole that matches a code in the specification is taken as the geological zone at the bottom of the zone of interest.

The special value 'EOH' indicates to use the end of the hole as the bottom of the zone.

Finish at

This option determines whether to use the depth_from or the depth_to of the specified zone as the bottom of the new interval which is being defined.

  • top of zone. Use the depth_from of the specified zone as the bottom of the new interval.
  • bottom of zone. Use the depth_to of the specified zone as the end of the new interval.
For missing zone use

This option determines how the depth_to is determined if the geological code for the end of the interval is missing in a drill hole.

  • end of hole. depth_to for the interval is at the end of the drill hole.
  • top zone. depth_to is the bottom of the top zone. Note that if you are using the bottom of the top zone as the depth_from, the absence of the bottom zone causes an interval of zero thickness.
