Transform grid

With this function you can transform the drill hole collar survey information from one grid system to another grid system. This will be necessary if drill hole data sets from different exploration programs need to be used together in a common grid system, or when changing a grid system from a national grid system to a local grid system.

To run this function: Choose Database > Edit > Transform drillholes, or...

  • In the Function Chooser, type TRANSFORM GRID, and press ENTER.
Fields on the Transform drillholes to another grid form

Database Name

This is the name of the current database and cannot be changed in this form.

Define transformation parameters

Old points - Y1, X1, Y2, X2

Enter the coordinates of two points in the current grid system. Where possible select two points that are towards the outer limits of the data in your data base and diagonally opposite one another.

New points - Y1, X1, Y2, X2

Enter the coordinates of the same two points in the new grid system.

Choose Apply from the TRANSFORM DRILLHOLES TO ANOTHER GRID form to display the CONFIRM GRID TRANSFORMATION form.

This form displays the effect that the transformation parameters will have on the data. The horizontal shift in northing and easting is displayed, along with any scaling or rotation that will occur during the transformation. If these parameters are not acceptable, choose Cancel to return to the TRANSFORM DRILLHOLES TO ANOTHER GRID form.

If the transformation parameters are acceptable, choose Apply from the CONFIRM GRID TRANSFORMATION form to display the DEFINE QUERY CONSTRAINTS form. Enter constraints for query which will be applied to the collar table. Complete the DEFINE QUERY CONSTRAINTS form and choose Apply to commence processing.

If a change in azimuth occurred in the transformation then the values in the azimuth field of the survey table will be changed accordingly.

Note:The holes which have dips of -90 or +90 degrees will not have their azimuth changed. Interval point and survey tables which contain stored rather than calculated down hole x, y, z values will be modified by the transformation also.

Result

Upon completion of the grid transformation all of the drill hole collar and survey information will have been transformed into the specified new grid system.

Note:The bearing of holes will automatically be changed by the rotation indicated in the CONFIRM GRID TRANSFORMATION form.
