Export block faces to DTM

By using various constraint combinations it is possible to produce complex images from a block model. On occasions it is useful to be able to produce contour outlines of the block model image presented in GRAPHICS. These contour outlines may be used as an aid for mine planning or geological modelling tasks, when the perimeter of a constraint is required as a single polygon rather than a polygon for each of the individual blocks inside the constraint.

To run this function: Choose Block model > Block model > Export > Block faces to DTM, or...

  • In the Function Chooser, type BM GRAPHICS DUMP DTM, and press ENTER.

This function makes it possible to do this by creating a DTM file by using the exterior faces of the block model (inside the current constraint) to create a set of triangles. This DTM representation of the block model image may then be processed by either the Contour Extract function or the Slice Object function.

Define the DTM file to create
Location, ID Number and Purpose

Define the DTM file which is to be created by entering a Location and ID number.

Describe the purpose of the DTM file which is to be created by entering a descriptive entry into the Purpose field.

Choose Apply to create a DTM file of the block model image which is currently visible in Graphics.

Result

The DTM which is created by this function is always identified as Object 1, Trisolation 1.

A DTM file will only be created if faces from a block model have been drawn and not yet erased.
