Assign value from polygon
You can use this function to assign attribute values in the block model using values stored in the description fields of closed segments.
To run this function: Choose Block model > Estimation > Assign value from polygon, or...
Note: The direction of strings used in this function is important. All string directions must be either clockwise or anti-clockwise.
Fields on the Assign values from strings form
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Location |
The string file(s) containing the segments to use to supply the attribute values. |
| Id Range |
The string file(s) containing the segments to use to supply the attribute values. |
| String Range |
The strings to use. To use all strings, leave this field blank. |
| Segment Range |
The segments to use. To use all segments, leave this field blank. |
| Description Fields for Data | |
| D Field |
The description field where the data is found. |
| Attribute |
The attribute to assign the D Field value. If, for any segment, there is a type mismatch (for example, a real attribute and a character description field value), no assignment is done. |
| Extension |
The direction that the closed segments are extended to mark the blocks for assignment. |
| Constrain |
|
Result
All blocks in the model, or if using constraints, all blocks which meet the specified constraints are assigned the specified values.
Messages
Nesting levels could not be established - check segments for crossovers.
Sometimes, crossed segments prevent the function from proceeding. Use the string file clean functions to eliminate crossed segments before trying this function again. Note that this function may still work even if there are crossed segments.
