Interpolator
Interpolator aids you to manage complex resource estimation by managing and documenting the parameters, files and outputs generated by Resource and Grade Control Geologists during all modelling activities. Interpolator provides a simple to use interface that facilitates convenient input, modification and storage of this information. A system based on a parameter file has been designed that can be tailored to store and reuse information for individual projects or modification of existing projects. Up to 100 sets of interpolation parameters (runs) can be stored in a single parameter file with each having a unique run number making it ideal for managing projects with multi-elements, multiple zones or multiple block models. Each estimation run generates a clear and comprehensive formatted report, providing both an audit trail and ready made resource documentation.
There are five components defined in the Interpolator parameter file setup process.
Control Parameters
Control parameters store information related to input sample string files, string numbers, description fields, block models and block model fields and constraints.
Search Parameters
Search parameters are the Surpac standard inputs required for an estimation search neighbourhood.
Search Pass Parameters
Interpolator provides you with the option of running multiple expanded search passes whilst maintaining the estimated grades from the initial search (pass 1). Second and third search pass distances are based on the initial search distances but are expanded by a multiplication factor. For example, if the initial search had a radius of 100m a pass factor of 2 would create a search radius of 200m. Minimum and maximum numbers of samples can be set for each search pass. The pass number will be recorded in a block model field nominated in the parameter file. Each search neighbourhood expansion honours any anisotropy established for the first pass.
Interpolation Parameters
Interpolation parameters are the Surpac standard inputs required for either Inverse Distance or Ordinary Kriging
Interpolation Output
The name of the output document file is defined along with a choice of naming and storing additional block model fields such as distance to nearest composite, average distance to composite, number of composites and kriging variance.
The input parameters defined on each of the 5 different data input tables are briefly described below:
